Hospital construction leads to parking changes
Avera St. Luke’s has started work on the unfinished floor space of its southeast addition. This will be a new patient care area, creating a larger and more convenient Same Day Surgery Center. Due to this construction work, changes are being made to accommodate parking needs around the hospital.
Starting Wednesday, June 25, Visitor Parking Lot H, on the west side of State Street across from the hospital, will temporarily change from visitor parking to physician parking. This will last for the next two months while the current physician parking lots are closed because of the construction.
“The visitor lot between the hospital and Kessler’s parking lot is still open, but we expect it to be pretty busy,” said Patty Kirkpatrick, Avera St. Luke’s Marketing and Public Relations director. “That’s why we are encouraging visitors to park on the east side of the hospital.”
Some of the hallways on the first floor are under construction as well. When entering through the east entrance, visitors can follow the traffic flow signs. Hospital staff and volunteers are available to help people find their way. They also have wheelchairs and scooters available for those with difficulty walking.
“We are excited about the new developments this construction will offer,” Kirkpatrick added. “However, we ask for everyone’s patience and understanding during the construction phase.”
