Who does the center serve?

Avera St. Luke’s Child Development Center is licensed through the South Dakota Department of Child Care Services for 56 children, ages 4 weeks through 18 years. Our center is structured into seven classrooms:

  • Infant Room – ages 4 weeks to 8 months
  • Baby Room – ages 7 months to 14 months
  • Preschool 1 Room – 1-year-olds
  • Preschool 2 Room – 2-year-olds
  • Preschool 3 Room – 3-year-olds
  • Preschool 4 Room – 4-year-olds
  • Preschool 5 Room – ages 5 and above

To provide consistency and security, your child will ordinarily be cared for by the same teacher(s). This will allow for important daily communication between our center and parents.

Is there a preschool?

A great benefit our center offers, at no additional cost, is a preschool program for ages 1 through 5 years. The year-round preschool program is planned and/or taught by certified teachers or by teachers holding a credential as a child development associate, and is held five days per week from 9 to 11 AM. The goals of our program are to:

  • Enhance child growth and development skills
  • Teach self-responsibility, manners and respect
  • Offer different experiences that promote learning and foster respect of all individuals
  • Spend quality time with each child and have fun while learning.

Parents are always welcome to observe and participate in the classrooms.
