Just what will be happening at the warm water therapy pool at Avera St. Luke’s new Physical & Aquatic Therapy Center?

Almost everyone can benefit from aquatic therapy in a warm water pool … athletes healing from sports injuries, people with chronic back pain, disabling illnesses or injuries, and people suffering from chronic diseases such as arthritis, fibromyalgia or muscular dystrophy.

Avera St. Luke’s new facility is connected to the new Northeast Regional Fitness Center but operates as a separate entity with no membership needed. Treatment will be available through group classes directed by experienced professionals or individual treatment plans designed by a licensed physical or occupational therapist, and usually prescribed by a physician. The benefits of aquatic exercise and therapy are appropriate for any age population, from young to old. You don’t have to be a swimmer or even know how to swim to benefit from aquatic therapy.

Warm water therapy is great for back and neck pain; recovery after surgery; foot, hip, shoulder and elbow problems; stroke; car accident injuries; neuromuscular disease rehabilitation; balance problems; general weakness; athletic injuries; developmental delays; and much, much more!

Avera St. Luke’s Physical & Aquatic Therapy Center is located north of the main St. Luke’s campus in Aberdeen, at 721 First Ave. S.E.; phone 605-622-4055.
